[Also in Division A5] Novel pyrrole derivatives of the Formula I wherein Y is a phenyl radical which is optionally substituted by one or two halogen atom(s) selected from F, Cl or Br, and R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP>, which may be the same or different, are H or CH 3 , R<SP>3</SP> is C 1-3 alkyl and R<SP>4</SP> is H or CH 3 are prepared by reacting together zinc, a pyrimidine derivative of the Formula II wherein R<SP>5</SP> is H, Cl or Br and an aqueous C 2-4 alkanoic acid, under the influence of heat, and, if desired, methylating the resulting pyrrole derivative. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,121,922.
