Abstract
1,226,927. Alternating butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer. MARUZEN PETROCHEMICAL CO. 5 Sept., 1969 [5 Sept., 1968 (2); 10 Dec., 1968; 26 Dec., 1968], No. 44054/69. Heading C3P. Alternate copolymers are prepared by contacting butadiene and acrylonitrile in the liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (a) aluminium chloride, stannic chloride or zinc chloride, (b) a vanadium or chromium compound and (c) an organic peroxide. In the examples the polymerization is carried out using aluminium chloride, zinc chloride or stannic chloride with benzoyl peroxide and CrO 2 Cl 2 , VOCl 3 ), VO(OC 2 H 5 ) 3 or triacetylacetanyl vanadium, using methylene chloride, toluene or heptane as a solvent.
