1,226,564. Cleaning steel strip &c. B, & K, MACHINERY INTERNATIONAL Ltd. March 25, 1968, No. 14349/68. Heading C7E. [Also in Division F4] A strip 10 is cleaned by spraying jets of e.g. water at high-pressure (600 to 2000 p.s. i.) through nozzles in pipes 43, 46 arranged to strike the strip at an angle of 10 to 60 degrees to the plane of the strip in a direction counter to the direction of movement of the strip. The jets are also arranged to be fan-shape in plan view Fig. 4 (not shown). The strip may then be passed through rubber coated rollers to a heated rinsing tank and a dryer having air nozzles. In a modification Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown) the rinsing tank may be incorporated with the spraying tank.
