Abstract

122,629. Andersen, A., and Ericsson, A. Jan. 21, 1918, [Convention date]. Valveless pumps; with reciprocating and oscillating piston moving in fixed cylinder.-A valveless pump comprises a cylinder 1 provided with inlet and outlet ports 10, 11. and a piston 3 which is reciprocated and oscillated by a crank-pin 7 engaging a recess in the piston. The piston has two channels 12, 13 communicating at one end with the chamber 16, and two others 14, 15 communicating at one end with the chamber 17. These channels end in curved elongated ports so that the inlet and outlet ports are in connexion with one or other end of the cylinder during the whole suction stroke. By the oscillation of the piston the chambers 16, 17 are alternately connected to the inlet and outlet ports 10, 11, so that while one is open to suction the other is open to delivery. The piston is provided with longitudinal and circumferential packing. The pump may be reversed by reversing the movement of the driving shaft.
