Apparatus for forecasting football match results comprises one or more boards a, Fig. 1, bearing a pattern of parallel-sided, tapered or part spherical openings c, and correspond ingly shaped numbered counters which are a press-fit in the openings. The openings may be replaced by simple marks, pegs to fit holes in the counters, or magnets to attract metal counters. Each match is denoted by a set of two like-numbered counters installed on the board(s), the sets being consecutively numbered. To forecast eight draws, the user predicts a result for each match, and removes both appropriate counters for a draw, or one counter for a home or away win. All the removed counters are shaken together in a container and removed one at a time until eight differently-numbered counters are obtained to form the first "line" of the selection. Other types of selection are made in a similar manner. To forecast the results of a pre-determined number of specified matches each set of likenumbered counters comprises three groups of two counters, a group representing a home win, away win or draw. The groups have a distinctive colour, shape or marking. One board may be used for each group.
