Abstract

1,224,778. Gas turbine plant utilizing upcast air from mine. KAZAKHSKY NAUCHANOISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ENERGETIKI. May 22, 1968, No.24413/68. Heading F1G. The invention relates to a method of utilizing upcast air containing methane from a coal wire in which the upcast air is mixed with "drained methane", the mixture being compressed in a compressor then burned in a combustion chamber and the resulting gases passed to a gas turbine. By "drained methane" is meant methane tapped from a coal-bearing seam. In the embodiment, upcast air from a mine is mixed in chamber 3 with drained methane, the resulting mixture passing through filter 1 to compressor 2. The air and methane mixture under pressure is then heated in preheater 4 then passed to combustion chamber 5 where the mixture is burned, the resulting combustion gases passing to gas turbine 6. The exhaust gases discharge through preheater 4 and then to atmosphere.
