1,224,522. Sampling liquids. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENGRGIE ATOMIQUE. 29 Nov., 1968 [1 Dec., 1967], No. 56877/68. Heading B8N. [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for sampling liquid comprises a pair of conduits 6, 7 for connection to a liquid flow line and each communicating with a cavity 5 in a body 1, a valve 12 engageable with a seat 13 in the cavity and from which depends a stem 11 slidable within an axial bore 4 of the body, the stem and axial bore having a clearance, and means for moving the valve when it is desired to obtain a sample of liquid. As illustrated the stem is secured to a member 16 slidable with respect to the body 1. The valve 12 is retained against its seat by spring 20 acting on the shoulders 18, 20 of the member and body respectively. A sleeve 21 is movable relative to the body and member upon manual or automatic actuation of the headed nut 27. When the sleeve is raised, shoulder 29 engages the shoulder 18 and upon further actuation of the nut the member and valve are raised. Liquid is then able to flow past the valve 12 and via bore 4, apertures 31 and outlet 32 into a container (not shown).
