Connecting. - rods; pistons.-A stampedmetal piston is formed with stamped or pressed thrust bearing surfaces for a terminal cylindrical portion a or axially alined bosses on the end of the connecting - rod. In the arrangement shown, the connecting-rod is made of stamped metal, as described in Specification 122,450, and the piston is built up of cupped stampings d, e, f. The gudgeon head a of the connecting- rod is accommodated in a cavity formed by recesses in the webs of the parts d, e of the piston, the web of the part e being slotted to permit oscillation of the connecting-rod.
