Abstract

1,223,781. Duct connectors. ETABS. GUIOT & CIE. 18 March, 1969 [18 March, 1968], No. 14131/69. Heading F2G. A duct connecting device comprises two coupling members 1a, 1b adapted to be connected to ducts A, B and each housing a preferably spring-loaded valve 2a, 3a; 2b, 3b. A locking and locating means comprising a sleeve 5 is provided for axial movement about one of the coupling members to bring the two free ends T of the coupling members la, 1b into engagement and into alignment. The free ends T which are partly defined by the outer surfaces of valve members 3a, 3b are plane. The sleeve 5 in its axial movement entrains the valve member 3a to urge the opposing valve member 3b inwardly of its coupling member 1b. In the construction shown the sleeve 5 is spring-loaded to its rearward position and, when urged forward to its coupling position, the sleeve does not entrain the valve member 3a until initial coupling has been effected. The coupling may be by complementary screw-threads, as shown, in which case a locking ring 16 is provided or by a bayonet type joint. Sealing rings 11, 14 are housed in the forward end of the coupling member 1a and in a groove in the valve member 3b, respectively.
