1,223,548. 9-Substituted fluorenes. DELALANDE S.A. 18 July, 1969, No. 36221/69. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I wherein R 1 is a straight or branched C 1 to C 6 aliphatic radical, phenyl or p-tolyl and R 2 is a saturated or unsaturated straight or branched C 1 to C 5 aliphatic radical which can carry tertiary amino, e.g. dialkylamino, morpholino, or piperidino, are obtained by reacting a 9-SO 2 R 1 -fluorene with sodium amide and treating the sodium derivative so obtained with R 2 -halogen. 9-Butylsulphonyl-fluorene is obtained from 9-butylthio-fluorene (prepared by interaction of butanethiol and 9-bromofluorene) utilizing hydrogen peroxide. Pharmaceutical preparations showing diuretic and analgesic action contain I as active ingredient; administration is, e.g. orally.
