1,223,526. Making handrail stanchions. A. C. MACLEOD. 8 Aug., 1969 [27 Aug., 1968; 30 Aug., 1968], No. 39828/69. Heading B3A. [Also in Division E1] A method of making handrail stanchions 10 includes pressing hollow tubing to form a spherical element 12 having holes 16, 18 for admitting handrailing, and machine welding the element 12 to a tubular shank 14 so that its bore is occluded. The machine welding may include flash butt welding or friction welding. The handrail may be inclined to the shank and the term "handrail" is intended to include "kneerail".
