Abstract

1,223,116. Making bearings. GEORGE ANGUS & CO. Ltd. 13 June, 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 27799/67. Headings B3A and B3Q. [Also in Division F2] A sealing ring 10 comprising an annular flat flexible washer 16 having a stiffener which is provided with a flange 14 which retains the washer is fitted to a rolling bearing by inserting the flanged end of the ring in a groove 13 in a bearing race 12 so that the flange abuts a shoulder of the groove, applying an axial load to the stiffener by means of the punch 24 so that the stiffener firmly grips the washer, and applying a second load, by means of the tool 26, to the main part of the stiffener so that the sealing ring assumes a substantially plane configuration. During the assembly, the bearing is held in position in the assembly tool by means of locating rings 23, which engage with the outer bearing race.
