Abstract
1,222,277. Hydraulic accumulators. GREER HYDRAULICS Inc. April 18, 1968 [April 19, 1967], No. 18441/68. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F2] An hydraulic pressure accumulator comprises a gas-filled bladder 14 sealingly secured by its mouth to the inside of a pressure container 11 and having at its other end a valve member 40, the member 40 being arranged when the bladder is fully expanded into contact with the container to seat in the tapering portion 76 of a bore 70 having a Venturi configuration. During charging an axial tube 51 carried by the bladder slides over a fixed guide tube 35 to prevent the bladder folding or rubbing against the container wall. Gas is admitted to the bladder through a valve 43, the bore of the guide tube 35, and radial openings 58. The openings 58 are covered by the tube 51 when the bladder is completely collapsed thus preventing extrusion of the bladder therethrough. A frusto-conical grommet 16, separate or integral with the bladder, inwardly of its mouth, prevents sharp bends 80 occurring in the bladder when in the collapsed (chain dotted) condition. The valve member 40 may have a stainless steel seating surface, Fig.4 (not shown).
