Abstract

1,221,431. Rear view mirrors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 9 July, 1968 [14 July, 1967], No. 32554/67. Heading B7J. An interior rear view mirror comprises a mounting plate 22, adapted to be secured to a body part of a vehicle, having a circular rib 25 and a concentric partially closed cylindrical recess 23 retaining a spring 28 that detachably engages the enlarged head 17 of a spigot 16 on the other, disc-shaped, end 13 of a mirror bearing arm by means of four substantially S-shaped arms 29, an annular surface on the periphery of the disc 13 bearing against the top of the rib 25 and having a V-shaped projection 21 engaging in a V-shaped groove 26 in the plate 22 and rib 25 to provide cam means aiding disengagement of the arm and the plate when the arm is rotated relative to the plate. Two further modifications disclose the use of a spring circlip instead of the spring clip 28 and the provision of two diameterically opposed pairs of V-shaped projections and grooves, respectively.
