Abstract

1,221,399. Multicolour dyeing of polyamides. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 18 Aug., 1969 [19 Aug., 1968], No. 41196/69. Heading D1B. Multicolour effects on polyamide fibres are obtained by treating polyamide fibres with an aqueous solution containing a metal salt having mordanting properties and with a polyamide reserving agent and an acid at pH 2-6 followed by rinsing and then combining this treated polyamide with another polyamide not treated by the above process the blend of fibres then being dyed with at least one anionic dye. preferably potassium or sodium bichromate are used as mordanting salts, monosulphated aromatic hydroxy compounds or aromatic hydroxy thioethers and condensation products of formaldehyde with aromatic hydroxy compounds and/or an aromatic monosulphonic acid being used as reserving agents. The dyestuffs used may be anionic reactive, chromable azo, metal-free azo or mixtures thereof, polyamide fibres including wool and synthetic polyamides in the form of filaments, staple or textured fibres, slubbing or yarn.
