1,221,205. 2,2 - Dichlorovinyl - carbamates and -carbonates. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 June, 1969 [31 July, 1968], No. 36534/68. Heading C2C. Novel 2,2-dichlorovinyl-carbamates and -carbonates of the general formula ACOOCH= CCl 2 , wherein A is a -OR, -NHR<SP>1</SP> or -NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP> group and R, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon groups, are prepared by reduction of a 2,2,2-trichloroethyl-carbamate or -carbonate of the general formula wherein R<SP>3</SP> is an alkyl or aryl group, with zinc. 2,2,2 - Trichloroethyl - carbamates and -carbonates of the second general formula above are prepared by peroxide oxidation of the corresponding thioether of the general formula ACOOCH(SR<SP>3</SP>)CCl 3 , which is prepared by reaction of chloral with a thiol of the general formula HSR<SP>3</SP> and then a carbamoyl halide or haloformate of the general formula ACO-halogen or a suitable isocyanate.
