Abstract

1,220,420. Screening magnetic materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 13 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 7875/69. Heading B2H. Ferromagnetic materials (e.g. Co 5 Sm) are ground to a powder and placed on a screen. The screen is subjected to a magnetic field of constant or reversing polarity as the powder is agitated. This has the effect of breaking up conglomerations of cohering fine magnetic powder so that the fine powder produced passes through the screen. The particles that remain on the screen are ground again and subjected to a further screening operation.
