Abstract

1,220,220. Pneumatic conveyers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 11 April, 1968 [21 April, 1967], No. 18527/67. Heading B8A. The lower portion of a material discharge vessel 10, provided with a porous base 11, and the plenum chamber 12 are divided into sections 13, 15 by baffles 14, 16, each section 15 being provided with an independent air supply whereby the discharge of material into discharge pipes 19 leading from each of the sections 13 is individually controllable. The discharge of material is arranged to be continuous by the provision of a feed hopper 1 having inlet and outlet valves 3, 5 which, together with a valve 22, controlling the supply of pressurizing air to the vessel 10, equalization valve 24 and a vent valve 8, are controlled to maintain the level of material in the vessel 10 and hopper 1 above a predetermined level. Additional air may be supplied through a pipe 27 to the discharge pipes 19 above closure members 25 to assist the discharge of material.
