Abstract
1,220,102. Alkali metal aluminium organo metallic complexes. K. ZIEGLER. 28 March, 1968 [9 April, 1967], No. 14882/68 Heading C2J. Compounds of the type MAlR x R<SP>11</SP>(OR<SP>1</SP>) y in which M is Na or K, R is an alkyl radical of C 1-10 , R<SP>11</SP> is alkyl radical of C 1-12 , R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl or cycloalkyl radical; x = 0, 1, 2; y = 1, 2, 3 and x + y = 3 are made by reating at a temperature below 70‹ C. an amalgam which is liquid at the process temperature and which has a Na or K content of at least 30% wt., an alkyl halide of formula R<SP>11</SP>X and an organoaluminium compound of formula Al(OR<SP>1</SP>) 3 , AlR(OR<SP>1</SP>) 2 or AlR 2 OR<SP>1</SP>. The halogen X is preferably Cl and the radical R<SP>1</SP> is suitably C 1-10 . The process may be carried out in the presence of an organic solvent e.g. tetrahydrofuran.
