Abstract

1,219,779. Moulding processes. BROWN, BOVERI & CIE A.G. 2 Dec., 1968 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 56994/68. Heading B3F. Casting apparatus comprises a mould box 1 filled with particulate material 3, all or some of which is of a magnetizable nature, a destructible pattern 4 and one or more magnets 7, 14 (13) having a plurality of polepieces 5, 6. The magnets generate cohesive forces in the mould material and thus maintain the shape of the mould cavity during casting. It is preferred to have at least one electromagnetic 7 and the permanent magnets (13), 14 are movable with respect to the mould box 1. The mould box is movable on rollers 2, guide pieces 15, 16 of non- inagnetizable material being provided between the mould box 1 and the polepieces 5 and 6, and also between the permanent magnets and the mould box.
