[Also in Division G5] A domestic electrothermal appliance having switching and regulating elements set by means of a row of knobs 6, has indicating-apparatus comprising, in association with each knob 6, an illuminated, transparent, rotatable cylinder 7 whose axis of rotation is situated parallel to the row of knobs. A control box for a cooker has control shafts 5 for setting the elements mounted with their knobs 6 in front of a shield 1 and a glass 2 for viewing symbols on the cylinders 7 illuminated by a lamp 4 in a reflecting case 3. Each cylinder 7 is mounted on a gear wheel 11 guided by a suitably shaped element 12 and driven by a pinion 8 on the associated shaft 5, through a rim gear 10 on a rotatable part 9 bearing on part of the shaft 5. The gears can be replaced by band and pulley arrangements and the viewing glass can be angled, with a part tangential to the cylinders 7 to provide a wide-angle view thereof. The cylinders 7 may be dark coloured in their "zero" regions so that they appear illuminated only in "operative" positions. Pin 37 and fork 36 pivot bearings on lugs 38 of the cooker frame, Fig. 5, provide a detachable mounting for lateral projections 35 of a strap 34 carrying the control box which is secured in the position shown by a strap 41. In order to replace the lamp 30 or to clean the glass 25, the strap 42 is released to allow the control box to be swung forward until its rear wall 32 is engaged by a spring hook 43 on a fixed cover plate 40. In order to gain access to connecting lugs of the switches 28, the spring hook 43 is pressed away allowing further forward swinging.
