Abstract

1,219,411. Film magazines. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Nov. 1 1967 [Nov.1, 1966], No.49647/67. Heading G2E. [Also in Division A4] Apparatus for rotatably supporting a reel 2 of strip material, such as cine film, comprises a magazine 10 having an inclined discharge opening 21 for the strip, and a flange 13 extending inwardly from the rim 11 to extend between the flexible flanges 4 of the reel 2 to retain the reel in the magazine. Flange 13 has an inner stripguiding surface 14 which slopes at 22 towards opening 21 such that when the reel flanges 4 are squeezed together through a cut away portion 26 of the magazine, the outer convolution of the strip coil is urged against surface 14 and, on rotation of the reel, the strip end passes along slope 22 out of opening 21. The reel flanges may be squeezed by swinging a pair of idling rollers (32), Fig.8 (not shown), having inwardly bevelled edges to engage the flanges (4) through cut-out (26). Rollers (32) may alternatively be driven to rotate the reel. In an embodiment, the magazine has no cut-out and a resilient clip is snapped over rim 11 so that its U-shaped arms may squeeze the reel flanges.
