Abstract

1,219,044. Ionization manometers. BALZERS PATENTUND BETEILIGUNGS A.G. 7 Oct., 1969 [15 Oct., 1968], No. 49321/69. Heading H1D. In a triode ionization manometer tube comprising an ion collecting electrode 4 located between a thermionic cathode 1 and an electron accelerating electrode 6, the spacing and dimensions of said three electrodes are such that the inter-electrode capacitance ratio C 6-1 /C 4-1 is from 0À25 to 1À00. The cathode 1 is supported by current leads 2 and 3 at a spacing of 4 mm. from ion collector 4 which comprises from three to five rods (four as shown) supported by a plate 5. Anode 6 is a cylinder having an internal diameter of 8 to 16 mm. and a length of 25 mm. supported by a rod 7. The tube which has a linear measuring characteristic for pressures up to several torr. is connected in a circuit (Fig. 2, not shown) which may include means for stabilizing the electron emission current.
