Abstract

1,218,250. Dyeing polyamides. GLANZSTOFF A.G. 12 Aug., 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 38456/68. Heading D1B. Textile material which comprises at least two different polyamides having different affinities towards dyestuffs are dyed by a process which comprises a) pretreating the material with a non-ionic dyeing auxiliary agent, b) treating for 5-30 minutes in a dyebath at 20-60‹C at a pH of 4-7 which both comprises a non-ionic dyeing auxiliary agent and a first dyestuff which dyestuff has a high affinity for a first polyamide and a lower affinity for the second polyamide or for the other polyamides, c) adding to the dyebath a second dyestuff which has a lower affinity for the said first polyamide then the first dyestuff but which has a high affinity for the second polyamide or other polyamides and raising the temperature up to 100‹C d) rinsing, drying and fixing the material by methods known per se. As an alternative to c) above, the second dyestuff may be applied under pressure at 120‹C., temperature rises being at 1‹C per minute, HAc being used to adjust pH. The polyamides may be modified with an alkali metal salt of 3-sulphoisophthalic acid, or by a phosphonic or phosphoric acid ester of formulae: in which X is an alkyl or aryl radical, Y is hydrogen or an alkyl or aryl radical. The non- ionic auxiliary dyeing agent is preferably a polyglycol ether, different coloured dyes may be used.
