Abstract

1,218,133. Box fasteners. COMDATA CORP. 24 June, 1968 [9 Nov., 1967], No. 30066/68. Heading E2A. [Also in Division B8] A reel container has two separable sections 13, 15 each having peripheral walls which engage and are held together to produce a dust proof seal, by balls 45, caged in a hub 41 of section 13, and forced upwardly against locking surface 29 integral with the section 15. In the embodiment shown a rotatable handle unit 47 engages the exterior of section 13 and is fixed by adhesive or a key to a cap 49. The cap 49 and handle 47 are turned together and a wall 55 of the handle unit, pushes the balls 45 radially outwards while a stepped cam surface (61) Fig. 3 (not shown) on the cap 49 moves the balls upwards so that they engage surface 29 thereby locking the container and sealing the tape enclosures. When the handle is turned in the opposite direction the balls are released radially by recesses 57 in the wall 55, and downwardly by the stepped cam (61).
