Abstract

1,216,954. Electroless deposition of Ni-Sn-P. G. SALVAGO. April 21, 1969, No.20183/69. Heading C7F. Substrates such as iron are coated with a Ni-Sn-P alloy by electroless deposition from an acid bath comprising a Ni salt, a soluble stannic salt and a hypophosphite. The bath contains 0À01 to 2 moles/l of the stannic salt e.g. stannic chloride and should also contain at least 0À5 moles/l of lactic acid. The Ni salt used in the sulphate and the hypophosphite is that of Na. Coating is effected at 90‹ C. and the examples specify coatings containing <1%, 1À5% and 3% of Sn.
