Abstract

1,216,550. Austenitic stainless steels. UNITED STATES STEEL CORP. March 1, 1968 [March 1, 1967; March 9, 1967; June 2, 1967], No. 10176/68. Heading C7A. A balanced austenitic stainless steel consists, by weight, of: - C 0À05-0À15% Mn 1-2À5% P 0À02% max. S 0À03% max. Si 1À65-3% Ni 15-19% Cr 15-19% N 0À05% max. Mo 0À05% max. Fe, conventional additives and impurities - balance. Conventional additives include Al 0À005-0À3% Cu 0À01-0À12% Ti, Nb, Zr and W. The steel is stated to have good hot workability, and resistance to stress-corrosion, pitting, acid corrosion and high temperature oxidation.
