Abstract

1,216,530. Endless conveyers. BERGWERKSVERBAND G.m.b.H. 9 Sept., 1968 20 [Oct., 1967], No. 42854/68. Heading B8A. A mining face 5 comprising two workings 1, 2 extending one on each side of a gallery is served by a single or multi-chain conveyer, wherein the upper run acts as the conveying run for the working 1 and the lower run acts as the conveying run for the working 2. In the working 2 the lower run 12 is guided from beneath the upper run 11 by a stationary guide 14 to a position in advance of the upper run in the direction of the face 5 and remains in said position until beyond the gallery whereupon a further stationary guide 17 returns the lower run to a position beneath the upper run for conventional operation in the working 1. Coal on the conveying upper and lower runs is discharged through respective apertures 15, 18 on a chain conveyer 16 extending along the gallery. A shroud (not shown) around the conveyer drive pulley 8 transfers any coal on the upper run 11 to the lower run 12 and a scraper 9 feeds coal missed by a coal cutting machine 20 on to said lower run 12. The lower run 12 may remain vertically displaced from the upper run 11 or may be mounted in the same horizontal plane thereas.
