Abstract

Two diametrically opposed cams 13, operated by levers 14 and mounted on a housing 10, which fits over the outlet of a gas pressurized liquid container, act on a flanged unit 11 which sealably carries a dispensing outlet tube 15, causing the outlet tube to press down the container seal and communicate with the container extractor tube to permit outflow of liquid. A seal 16, with a flanged metal plate 17 providing stiffness at its lower end, provides the sealing for the outlet tube 15 in the flanged unit 11 and for the container outlet during liquid outflow to prevent spillage. Gas may be supplied under pressure through the top-fitting to the container to pump out the liquid by means of an inlet 18 and holes 20 in the seal 16, which deforms during the depression of the outlet tube 15 causing part of the seal, around the holes 20, to move away from the flanged unit 11. Thus gas can only pass the seal 16 when the outlet tube 15 is depressed. Alternatively, the seal may be in the form of a ring (23), Fig. 2 (not shown), with a lip (23a) contacting the outer diameter of the outlet tube 15 at its lower end 15a, allowing gas to pass the seal only into the container. Here the outlet tube 15 and gas inlet tube 18 are sealed in the flanged unit 11 by lock-nuts (22) and sealing rings (21), and the outlet tube is inclined. Substantially all of the parts of the top fitting can be made of plastics.
