Abstract

1,215,942. Breathers for sealed containers. BROWNELL Ltd. 27 Feb., 1968 [27 Feb., 1967], No. 9212/67. Headings B1L and B1T. A desiccating breather adapted to be screwed at 3 into the wall of an otherwise sealed container comprises tubes 5 and 6 extending the length of the breather body 1, so that when air enters the container as shown by the arrows, it is constrained to pass through the mass of desiccant contained in space 10. Filters 8, 8a and 9 (see also Fig. 1, not shown) are provided in tubes 6 and 5. The breather also includes a humidity indicator 7 which is observable through window 7a. The desiccant is partially regenerated when air passes from the container to the atmosphere in the reverse direction to that shown by the arrows. The breather has particular application with containers to be transported by aircraft.
