Abstract
1,215,493. Cooling electric machine rotor windings. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 13 March, 1968 [15 March, 1967], No. 12242/68. Heading H2A. In an electrical machine, e.g. turbo generator, liquid cooled rotor winding wherein each half turn comprises an internal liquid duct 25 or 35 and the two ducts of a complete turn form parallel flow ducts connected at the winding end turn transverse conductor 10 to a small tube 13 through which the liquid is supplied thereto, such conductor has an axially extending projection 14 to which the tube is connected and of an axial length (48), Fig. 2, and radial thickness 28 which are each greater than the radial thickness 45 of the conductor itself. By providing this greater radial thickness 28 the tube can have a diameter sufficient to supply without restriction the two ducts, and is accommodated by staggering sequential projections of the radially stacked turns to alternate sides of the pole centre (11), Fig. 1. The projection is integral with or soldered or welded to a support 21 soldered at 32, 33 to the conductor 10, and has insulation at 19, (16, 20), Fig. 1. The joints 32, 33 may be checked via extensions of projection bores 24, 34, which subsequently are closed by plugs 26.
