Abstract

1,215,239. Cracking hydrocarbons. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 2 May, 1968 [6 May, 1967], No. 20864/68. Heading C5E. Hydrocarbons containing high boiling constituents are cracked at 680-850‹ C. into gaseous olefins in contact with hot inert heat carrier particles of size 0À05-4 mm. which are recycled between a fluidized-bed reactor 1, and a fluidized-bed regenerator 2, the cracked gas and vapour leaving the reactor being freed in a cyclone (not shown) from the entrained solid materials which are returned to the system, and high boiling cracked oil residues and the cracked coke adhering to the heat carrier being burned with air in the fluidized-bed in the regenerator the reactor and regenerator are devoid of grates and baffles, each have a conical lower portion of angle of slope (#) between 30 and 70 degrees, and have lateral inlet nozzles 6, 13 for the hydrocarbon fuel and at least 70% of the fluidizing agent inserted in the conical portions. The fluidized inert heat carrier is recycled between the reactor and the regenerator by means of down pipes 3 and rising pipes 4. The inert heat carrier may be aluminium silicate containing more than 50% by wt. Al 2 0 3 . Steam and oxygen may be used as fluidizing agents.
