Abstract

1,214,954. 954. Automatic voltage control. MULLARD Ltd. May 5, 1969, No.22809/69. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] A power supply comprising two or more D.C./ D.C. converters each of which consists of a transistor oscillator 25, a rectifier 55 and an automatic voltage regulation circuit and in each of which there is included an output transformer 33 having an isolated output circuit, is characterised in that the output circuits are connected in cascade. The output at the collector of the transistor 25 is rectified by diodes 40, 41 to provide a D.C. signal proportional to the amplitude of the oscillatory signal, which is fed to one transistor 29 of an emitter coupled pair. The other transistor 28 of the pair receives a reference voltage derived from Zener diode 48 and the output is fed to transistor pair 26, 27 which control the amplitude of oscillation. In the event of an overload, transistor 29 cuts off and cuts off transistor 31. Transistor 30 then becomes conductive to bias off both transistor 28, 29 and stop the oscillator. The rectifier 55 may be replaced by a simple rectifier. The outputs of several such converter may be connected in cascade to the electrodes of an electronic imaging tube, Fig. 1 (not shown).
