Abstract

1,214,818. Mixing fluids. H. A. LARSEN. 15 Dec., 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 57224/67. Heading B1C. Apparatus for mixing fluids comprises a tube 4 up which flows a denser fluid/liquid or gas) and having a coaxial rotatable hollow shaft 1 carrying vanes 9 of V cross-section adjacent apertures 10, whereby a lighter fluid liquid or gas) is induced fro mthe interior of the shaft into the denser fluid by the reduction of pressure behind the vanes. The lighter fluid may enter the shaft through apertures 11 cooperating with scoops 12 (see also Fig. 2, not shown). The vanes 9 may be angled on the shaft (see Fig. 4, not shown) to produce an impelling action and they may be straight or curved (see Figs. 3, 5 and 6, not shown). The shaft may have a solid extension 5 carrying impeller blades 6 cooperating with fixed flowstraightening vanes 8; similar flow-straightening vanes may be used in cooperation with the vanes 9.
