Abstract

1,214,678. Protective arrangements. STOTZKONTAKT. G.m.b.H. 13 March, 1968 [14 March, 1967], No. 12264/68. Heading H2K. A socket outlet has mounted on the base of the socket member a differential transformer and a switching device connected to the secondary winding of the transformer and effective to disconnect or cause the disconnection of the supply to the socket in the event of earth leakage from the load connected to the socket. The switching device may be a thyristor which short circuits the supply conductors to cause the interruption of the supply elsewhere. Alternatively the switching device may be a circuit-breaker with its trip coil connected to the transformer secondary winding. This circuit-breaker may be provided with overloadresponsive tripping devices and an indicator may show when the earth leakage trip has functioned.
