Abstract

1,214,319. Mouthpiece cigarettes . MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd and D. W. MOLINS. 20 Dec., 1968 [21 Dec., 1967 (2)], Nos. 58051/67 and 58052/67. Heading A2C. In a mouthpiece cigarette, the mouthpiece portion includes a filter plug enclosed within a fire-retardant tube and spaced from the tobacco portion, and the mouthpiece portion is joined to the tobacco portion by a uniting band made of an incombustible material capable of being in contact with burning tobacco without imparting an unpleasant or undesired taste to the smoke drawn into the smoker's mouth. A suitable mouthpiece cigarette is shown in Fig. 1 wherein a cigarette portion 1 is joined by a band 2 to a mouthpiece portion 3 which consists of a filter plug 5 positional in a tube 4. The tube may consist of an incombustible material such as fibre-glass, or a material such as paper which has been treated with a fireretardant material may also be applied to the inner open end of the tube 4, for instance as shown in Fig. 1, in the form of the patch or ring 6. The band 2 is of an incombustible material such as metallic foil.
