Abstract

1,214,019. Insoles. B. ROMEN. 7 June, 1968 [11 April, 1968], No. 27287/68. Heading A3B. An insole consists of a complete flexible sole body 1 of material which is subsequently unshrinkable in injection moulding conditions, e.g. a resin bonded pressed fibre material, a shank stiffener 6, e.g. of spring steel, and a plastics coating 9 rigidly embedding the stiffener 6 and securing it to the sole body 1. The sole body 1 has an arcuate cut which forms a tongue 2 and a web 3, the tongue 2 being bent down when it is placed in an injection mould (not shown) so that the plastics material 9 is moulded above the tongue 2 and below the web 3. The shank stiffener 6 is positioned during moulding by a tab 5 cut in the sole body 1 engaging a recess 6<SP>1</SP> in the stiffener 6 and by a strip 7 formed by a pair of transverse cuts in the sole body 1.
