Abstract

1,213,983. Measuring shapes of components. RALEIGH INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb.22, 1968 [Feb. 24, 1967], No.8910/67. Heading G1M. A scale size shadow or silhouette 10 of a component is cast upon a screen 11 of a shadowgraph machine and the shadow is scanned by a moving spot which causes a signal to be sent to a computer each time a change in light or dark on the screen is detected. The computer records the times between signals as component dimensions which are compared with standard dimensions previously fed into the computer and controls the start and stopping of the scanning and also the automatic removal and insertion of the components and their acceptance or rejection.
