Abstract

1,211,781. Wells. MOBIL OIL CORP. 9 Aug., 1968 [28 Aug., 1967], No. 38222/68. Heading E1F. A foundation for drilling sub-aqueous wells and to which an underwater chamber 16 may be attached comprises a base 42, piles 54 anchoring the base to the bed 20, a structure 44 having conductor pipe guides 62 and adjustable means 58 between the base and the structure permitting the levelling of the structure. The foundation is lowered on a carrier (not shown) engaging the tops of the piles (before they are driven into the bed) and fixed to a pipe string. After the piles are driven and fixed to the base, the conductor pipes are passed through the guides into the bed, the wells are drilled and cased, and wellheads 118 are fixed to the guides. A cable 128 is attached to the bottom of a guide 64 in the structure and to a winch 124 in the chamber, the chamber being winched down and locked into the guide. Production tubing 120 from the wells is connected by connectors 122 to the chamber so that the production from the wells may be combined in the chamber or gas lift fluid may be supplied to the wells.
