[Also in Division C7] A process for the chemical treatment and cleaning of the interior of the pipes and tubes of steam raising or chemical plant comprises heating the treatment liquid by injecting it into direct contact with the vapour of the, or a liquid, e.g. steam. A steam raising unit is connected via a desuperheater 5 supplied with spray or cooling water via line 12 in dependence on the temperature leaving the desuperheater to the storage tank 9 of a deaerator of the plant to be treated, which deaerator is also fed with the treatment liquid via the normal low pressure liquid feed 10 so as to be sprayed through the steam cloud in the deaerator and heated thereby. In a modification the steam source comprises the steam raising boiler of the plant to be treated.
