Abstract

1,210,073. Alarm systems. KODAKPATHE S.A. 2 Nov., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49906/67. Heading G4N. [Aslo in Division H1] A switch C comprises a first terminal 10, a hollow body 11 having an electrically conductive internal wall connected to the first terminal 10, a second terminal 12, an electrically conducting resiliently flexible member 13 mounted at one end on the body by electrically insulating element 14, while the other end is provided with a conducting weight 15 normally arranged out of contact with the wall and a viscous insulating liquid 16 of which the properties remain practically constant in a wide temperature range within the body 11 to impede movement of the weight 15. If the switch is tilted from the vertical and remains tilted, after a predetermined time delay, weight 15 will touch body 11 to complete the circuit between terminals 10 and 12. The switch forms part of an alarm system for the detecting and signalling of accidents to isolated persons comprising a radio transmitter (E) (circuit diagram, Fig. 2, not shown) capable of operating on a predetermined frequency and having a manual control switch (I) and a switch C as above adapted to be worn or carried by an isolated person so as to initiate the transmission at will or automatically, and a portable radio receiver (R) (circuit diagram, Fig. 2, not shown) tuned to this frequency and arranged to operate alarm (A) or an existing alarm network. The alarm may be a bell, siren, flashing light &c. or a combination of these. Member 13 may be of helically wound steel wire, member 14 of polytetrafluoroethylene or polyvinyl chloride, member 15 of brass, liquid 16 of a biphenyl chloride or viscous silicon oils mineral oils or plasticizers.
