Abstract

1,209,835. Cable terminations. SIEMENS A.G. 30 Sept., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 46410/68. Heading H2E. [Also in Division C3] A cable fitting, e.g. a joint box 10 as shown or a sealing end, around a polyethylene-sheathed cable 3 is formed from a cast resin having a modulus of elasticity < 10<SP>4</SP> kp cm.<SP>-2</SP>, and preferably in the range 10-10<SP>2</SP> kp cm.<SP>-2</SP>, in order to accommodate temperature expansion of the polyethylene 3. The resin may be polyurethane, polyester or epoxide based, examples of which are described in the Specification (see Division C3). An intermediate adhesing layer 7 of elastic tape or adhesive, and stress cones 8 or 12, may be provided.
