Abstract

1,208,314. Drying hydrogen. NORTON CO. 31 Jan., 1969 [1 Feb., 1968], No. 5387/69. Heading B1L. Wet hydrogen from recycle reformer gas, which also contains C 1-4 -hydrocarbons, and small amounts of hydrogen chloride, is dried by passage through a bed of 'large port' mordenite having a sieve pore size greater than 5Š. The mordenite is preferably used in the hydrogen exchanged form as cylindrical pellets bonded with up to 20% bonding material. When exhausted, the mordenite is regenerated by treatment with dry nitrogen at upward of 288‹C.
