Abstract
1,208,111. Oxadiaozlidine derivatives. E.I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & OC. 12 Sept., 1967 [19 Sept., 1966], No. 41649/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Partly novel (see Specification 1,208,112) herbicidal compounds of formula where M is O or S; R is where X is Cl, Br, I or C 1-4 alkyl; Z is H, Cl, Br, F, NO 2 , C 1-4 alkoxy or CF 3 ; and t is 1, 2, 3 or 4; R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl; C 5-8 cycloalkyl optionally substituted by CH 3 , Cl or OCH 3 ; C 6-9 cycloalkylmethyl or C 5-8 cycloalkenyl, are prepared by either I: followed by cyclization with a base, or II: again followed by cyclization with a base. In comparative examples, N - methyl hydroxylamine is reacted with methyl chloroformate to give methyl - N - hydroxy - N - methyl - carbamate,which is reacted with dichlorophenylisocyanate and phenyl isothiocyanate to give the 3,4 - dichloro - carbanilate and the thionocarbanilate respectively of methyl - N - hydroxy - N - methyl - carbamate which are treated with NaOH to give 2 - methyl - 4(3,4 - dichloro - phenyl) - 1,2,4 - oxadiazolidine - 3,5 - dione and 2 - methyl - 4 - phenyl - 5 - thiono - 1,2,4 - oxadiazolidine - 3 - one respectively. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,142,917.
