Abstract

1,207,595. Aerials. PYE Ltd. 14 March, 1969 [25 March, 1968], No. 14347/68. Heading H4A. A magnetic dipole aerial comprises a ferrite rod 1, around which is a conductive sleeve 2 having a gap 3 throughout its length. Capacitors C 1 , C 2 + C 3 , and C 4 are uniformly spaced along the gap 3, and are connected to the edges thereof. Means are provided for adjusting the inductance of the sleeve 2, so that the aerial may be resonant at a desired frequency and, as described, this consists of a longitudinal slot 6 at the back of the sleeve 2, which may be wholly or partially short-circuited by an axially slidable further sleeve 5. The sleeves 2, 5 may be made of beryllium copper and be silver-plated. A tab 7 on the sleeve 5 facilitates movement for adjustment. The sleeve 5 may be finally secured by means of an adhesive. The aerial is fed by connections across the capacitor C 3 , and matching is obtained by suitably proportioning the values of the capacitors C 2 , C 3 .
