Abstract

1,207,244. Electro-medical apparatus. M. I. KUZIN, S. A. AGASARIAN, V. D. ZHUKOVSKY, N. A. VOLKOV, V. I. SACHKOV, I. Z. RUKHOVETS, N. M. LIVENTSEV and B. I. PANFILOV. 26 April, 1968, No. 14503/ 68. Heading A5R. Apparatus for treating the nervous system (e.g. for electronarcosis) by the action on the body of two medium frequency currents which produce in the body a combined low frequency current comprises two oscillation generators each having voltage and power amplifiers, there being a current regulator connected in the output circuits of the voltage amplifiers. As shown, the apparatus comprises two oscillators having transistors 1, 3 and 2, 4, the outputs from the oscillators passing to body electrodes 16 through voltage amplifiers with transistors 5 and 6 and through power amplifiers having transistors 9, 11 and 10, 12 and input and output transformers 7, 13 and 8, 14. Each oscillator includes a feedback circuit composed of resistors and capacitors 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, the resistors 36, 37 being adjustable so that the frequency output of each oscillator may be varied. Potentiometers 19, 20 allow the current outputs from the oscillators to be varied both independently and synchronously, the potentiometers including (Figure 2, not shown) an adjustment screw (26) at each potentiometer and an adjustment screw (21) on a cross-member 22 linking the two potentiometers. The apparatus also includes resistors 17, 18 said to be electrically equivalent to a patient and used for test purposes, a changeover switch 15 allowing the outputs from the oscillators to be applied to either the body electrodes 16 or the resistors 17, 18. Power is supplied to the oscillators from batteries or (using a changeover switch 34) an A.C. supply including a power transformer 29, rectifier 30, and a voltage stabilizing device comprising transistors 31, 32 and a Zenor diode 33. It is stated that in the event of the short circuiting of the electrodes the oscillators cease functioning and the voltage stabilizing device no longer supplies power to the oscillators. Milliammeters 46, 47 and a voltmeter 48 (rendered operative with a switch 49) are included.
