[Also in Division F4] In producing cement from the gypsum sulphonic acid process in a rotary kiln, the kiln gases flow through a multistage preheater, into the first stage 2 of which a mixture containing the carbon for reduction is introduced, while in the last stage 3 a material containing CaSO 4 is introduced. The first stage mixture also contains ferric oxide, sand and clay. The temperature of this stage can be controlled by introducing CaSO 4 into it, the amount of CaSO 4 in the last stage then being lessened. If anhydrous gypsum is used in the last stage, water is also sprayed in.
