Abstract

1,205,328. Inductive-drag switches. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Feb., 1968, No. 6696/68. Heading H1N. A speed responsive switch has a magnet 36 on the driving shaft 5 and a conducting non- magnetizable drum 7 between the magnet 36 and a ferromagnetic cylinder 3 mounted in the housing 2. The drum 7 has end pieces 6, 6<SP>1</SP> mounted on bearings 8, 8<SP>1</SP> on the shaft 5 and an actuating member 35<SP>1</SP> attracted to end piece 6<SP>1</SP> projects through slots 12<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>1</SP> which limit the rotational movement of the drum 7. The ends 12, 13 of the member 35 are engaged by a spring biased lever 15 so that if the drum 5 is rotated in either direction one of the ends will rotate the lever 15, anticlockwise as shown in Fig. 8B, to operate a contact device 19. The distances between the lever pivot 14 and ends 12, 13 in relation to the axis of the shaft 5 can be fixed to provide contact operation at the same shaft speed in both directions or at different speeds. The operating speed can be adjusted by coarse and fine screws 28, 27 acting on lever biasing tension spring 25 or by rotation of a hanger 33 to which an opposing tension spring 32 is coupled. The contact unit 19 may also be adjusted on its mounting bracket 44. The shaft 5 rotates in oil impregnated bearings 4, 41 in casing parts 2, 1, the latter having a dust tight cover 16. The contact unit 19 has changeover contacts.
