In a dough dividing machine dough is delivered from a hopper 2 by contra-rotating delivery rollers 10, 11 and is divided and delivered for ejection through an outlet 30, on to a conveyer, by cutters 14, 15 which are mounted for reciprocating displacement in a diametrical direction through hollow cylindrical guide members 12, 13 which contra rotate cyclically through an angle α. The dough passage through the machine is enclosed by end walls, by the interior surfaces of dough wipers which engage at surfaces 22, 23 and 24, 25 respectively with the delivery rollers 10, 11 and guide members 12, 13, and the interior surfaces of dough wipers which engage at surfaces 26, 27 with the guide members 12, 13. In the uppermost position of the guide members 12, 13 and cutters 14, 15, the latter are in their retracted open position, with the outlet 30 closed by a horizontally displaceable knife 32. The cutters are closed, either into toothed or overlapping engagement, as guide members 12, 13 begin to rotate downwardly so that dough is compressed in the space thereby enclosed until, at a predetermined position, the knife 32 is opened to permit discharge through outlet 30 upon continued rotation of the guide members 12, 13, with the cutters 14, 15 remaining closed to their lowermost position. In this position the knife 32 closes and the cutters 14, 15 are retracted and the guide members 12, 13 are then rotated to raise the cutters 14, 15 to their uppermost position. The uppermost position of the guide members 12, 13 is adjustable to vary the weight of divided dough. A plurality of dough division may simultaneously be discharged through a multi-orifice outlet provided with upwardly extending partition walls thereabove.
