1,204,310. Swaging; making tapered pipes. M. VON BUSHE, and T. ALTENBRACHT- [trading as TH. KIESERLING & ALBRECHT]. 14 May, 1969 [24 Oct., 1968], No, 24667/69. Heading B3H. A rotary swaging machine comprises two or four tool carriers 15, 16 whose radial movement in the rotating housing 4 is derived from eccentric shafts 9, 10 on which the carriers are supported through roller bearings 13, 13a, 14, 14a, and the shafts are rotated by pinions 9d, 10d on the end of each shaft meshing with a gear rim 22. The housing is mounted in bearings 2, 3 and rotated through gearing 5, 6 by an electric motor 8. The swaging dies 17, 18 are connected to the carriers by wedges (20a), (20b), (20c), (20d), Fig. 3 (not shown). In normal operation the gear rim 22 is stationary but may be rotated to increase the number of blows of the dies per revolution. The workpiece 23 is tubular and may have an internal mandrel rotatably mounted on an abutment (24), Fig. 3 (not shown), against which the tube end is fed. The position of the abutment (24) is adjustable by a nut (27) to change the depth of penetration of the tube between the dies. The dies have guide bolts and bushes (29), (30), Fig. 2 (not shown).
